BENEFITS OF KUNG FU

Improved Self-Confidence – The most significant benefit of martial arts training for children is their boosted self-confidence.  It takes time and training to build inner confidence but as training progresses, a student will gradually develop stronger confidence due to improved physical fitness, coordination, personal security, discipline, and posture.  This boosted self-esteem will propel them to make proper choices in their young lives.

Improved Physical Fitness – Everyone knows that physical exercise is important, particularly for children. Physically active children have far fewer chronic health problems than sedentary, obese kids  Our Kung Fu classes provide a full body workout that builds strong bones, strong muscles, and a strong body. Growing up with Kung Fu practice can train children to become life-long advocates of an active lifestyle. For younger kids, Kung Fu also provides a constructive outlet to divert all that active energy which they never seem to run out of.

Improved Body Coordination – Kung Fu training involves different stances and movements of all body parts. This allows exercising of major body joints and muscle groups as well as training of physical coordination and balances.  It can also improve children's abilities in sports, music, dance, and other extra-curricular activities.

Improved Sense of Security – Nowadays at school, shy and gentle kids are often preyed upon by bullies. Kung Fu training can help them increase children's sense of personal security. In most cases, they never have to use their martial arts techniques on someone. Better posture and self-esteem derived from Kung Fu training is usually enough to deter most bullies. If anything else is needed, a simple, solid, professional Kung Fu stance with a powerful roar of "EE-HAA!" will finish them off.

Improved Concentration – Improved concentration is a natural result of Kung Fu training.  Just a single movement in any form could involve head motion, neck motion, waist motion, as well as motion of two arms, two legs, and eyes (up to 8 pieces of information per move!). Kung Fu practice requires concentration and trains kids to focus during learning as a habit.

Improved Self-Discipline – In early stages of learning, discipline is initiated by the instructor. This spirit passes onto the more senior students and eventually all students develop their own discipline.  We call this “self-discipline”.  Self-discipline starts to form when a student begins to take initiate and pride in their learning. Students learn that their worthy goals will require patience, hard work, dedication, and most importantly, self-discipline.

Improved Respect –  Showing respect is intrinsic to the Kung F, and is a core value of any kind of martial arts. Students show respect to each other, their instructor, to their own selves, and even to their school upon joining each class session (bow etiquette). This encompasses several messages: respect, gratitude, an acknowledgement of each other's abilities. Kung Fu teaches students to respect rank, expertise, and experience... in short, they learn to value goodness in each other and in oneself.

Stress Relief – Because of intense workouts, students are able release stress until they are drained from the exertion. Working up a good sweat has always been a great way to diffuse anger and negative emotions, resulting in improved inner peace. Confidence gained through mastery of martial arts techniques also helps kids stay calm in stressful situations.

Fun & Cool – Kung fu is also super-fun to learn and super-cool to demonstrate!
